Here is the list of our 2009 Participating Wineries:
We furnish a souvenir wine glass with our logo on it and coupons for wine tasting. Participating wineries submit four wines to be considered for paring with our menu. Our committee then selects the wines to be featured during the Gala Dinner. This year we chose Messina Hof, Chisholm Trail, Landon and Flat Creek. (See the full menu for the Gala Dinner HERE.)

Yes, our name came from our purple possum. A young possum knocked over a bucket of crushed grapes on the porch and dyed himself a very distinguished shade of purple. We are the only winery in Texas which specializes in the ancient drink of Kings, the original alcoholic beverage: Mead. Mead is made from fermented honey rather than grapes. Our meads come in a variety of styles and varieties. Our Cranberry Mead has won a number of awards, including taking a first place at the Grapefest People's Choice Awards two years running. We are a modest establishment, with a tasting room open on weekends and holidays 10-6, or call ahead for appointments any old time. We are located just outside Navasota off FM 3090.

Welcome to Red Road Vineyard and Winery, where your wine experience offers a surprise at every turn. Established in 2001, Red Road Vineyard and Winery (RRVW) is a family owned and operated business. RRVW's winery is based in Naples' restored ice and power house. Built in 1890, it actively manufactured ice until 1970. Selected for their insulation qualities, the old meat lockers are now used to store wine and fresh grapes. A new tasting room now occupies the area where ice was once stored for transport. Guests are invited to try different varieties of wine in our tasting room or on our scenic deck. We offer a wide selection of wines along with delicious appetizers.

Featured in the Wine Spectator, The New York Times, starred in "Destination Fantasy Weddings" on the Food Network and served in the White House, these hand-crafted award-winning Bordeaux, Burgundian and Rhone-styled wines are enjoyed with fine cuisine or casual fares. In the Texas Hill Country, 10 miles east of historic Fredericksburg off U.S. Highway 290, the winery replaces an original 19th-century German limestone barn and stands beside the 1880s log cabin (named The Homestead B&B). The tasting room features an antique bar originally from the Green Tree Saloon in San Antonio. There are 46 acres of French vinifera grapevines and three acres of lavender growing at the winery. Grape growing and wine making techniques follow strict French practices of limited yield, barrel fermentation and aging of red and white wines. The Lavender Haus reception hall and the winery verandah are available for parties, conferences and receptions. Becker Vineyards also hosts the annual Lavender Festival. Visit the Web site for upcoming events.
